Mumbai Urological Society
The Mumbai Urological Society (MUS) is a membership organization that brings together urologists through education, experience, and knowledge sharing. It was launched to bring together, under one roof, knowledge,expertise, and experience through regular meetings, masterclasses, and academic cooperation in the field of urologic surgery.
In 1982 a group of enthusiastic urologists from Bombay met at the Willingdon Sports Club and decided to float a platform where they could share their interesting cases and discuss them in detail. With this thought, the Bombay Urological Society came into being. The Bombay Urological Society started with Dr. D K Karanjawala as President and Dr. M R Kamat as Hon. Secretary and Dr. S W Thatte as Hon Treasurer. The Society's early meetings were held in the confines of the members' clinics, and as the numbers increased, the venue was shifted to the Urology / Surgery Department Meeting rooms and subsequently to more spacious halls. The Society was registered with the Charity Commissioner on 5th May 1983.
In 1995, at a meeting in the Bombay Hospital, in keeping with the State Government's stance to change the name of Bombay to Mumbai, the Council decided to change the name of Bombay Urological Society to Mumbai Urological Society. The Society started…
