About Mumbai Urological Society (MUS)

The Mumbai Urological Society (MUS) is a distinguished professional association dedicated to uniting urologists through education, clinical excellence, and collaborative knowledge sharing. Established with the vision of fostering academic growth and professional development, MUS serves as a common platform for urologists to exchange expertise, discuss evolving practices, and advance the field of urologic surgery through regular scientific meetings, masterclasses, and academic collaborations.

Historical Background

The origins of MUS date back to 1982, when a group of passionate and forward-thinking urologists from Bombay convened at the Willingdon Sports Club with a shared objective—to create a forum for in-depth discussion of challenging and interesting clinical cases. This initiative led to the formation of the *Bombay Urological Society*.

The Society was founded under the leadership of *Dr. D. K. Karanjawala* as President, *Dr. M. R. Kamat* as Honorary Secretary, and *Dr. S. W. Thatte* as Honorary Treasurer. Initial meetings were conducted within members’ clinics, reflecting the Society’s humble beginnings. As membership steadily expanded, meetings transitioned to departmental conference rooms and subsequently to larger venues. The Society was formally registered with the Charity Commissioner on *5th May 1983*.
